About Clay

Clay is a long-time computer enthusiast whose wallet has never kept up with his ever-evolving needs for new software tools. That incongruence led to the need to build a large toolbox of freeware and open source alternatives to get various jobs done.

The inspiration for The FreeLoader Directory came as Clay found himself becoming the go-to source for free software recommendations. It occurred to him that a lot of computer users could benefit from a one-stop freeware & open source directory. Since most freeware and open source developers don't have the resources to advertise their wares, he felt the book would be a win-win for both users and the developers.

Clay has a bachelor's degree in computer engineering from the University of Idaho and an MBA from Duke University's Fuqua School of Business (hence all those years spent being poor).
